Start with the decision context
A useful screenshot review should answer what you saw, what you planned, what you did, and what happened next. The chart alone cannot explain hesitation, FOMO, rule-breaking, or confidence.
Write the symbol, direction, session, setup, entry, stop loss, target, and result beside the image. This makes the screenshot searchable later.
Mark the plan and the mistake
The most valuable part of review is not the candle pattern. It is the gap between plan and action. Did you enter early? Did you move the stop? Did you close too fast? Did you skip a clean setup?
If every screenshot has a setup tag and mistake tag, weekly review becomes much easier. You can count what repeats instead of guessing.
Review wins and losses the same way
Many traders study losses but ignore bad wins. A win can still be poorly executed if the entry was late or the stop was emotional. A loss can be high quality if the plan was followed.
Professional review separates process quality from PnL. This is how traders improve without becoming attached to one outcome.
Save the lesson while it is fresh
The best time to write the lesson is right after the trade, while the reason is still clear. Waiting until the weekend often turns real behavior into a vague memory.
Use one sentence: next time I will do X when Y happens. That gives your future self an action, not just a complaint.
